The Windward Week – September 14th 2026

Welcome to the Windward Week, your go-to source for local news, community updates, and market insights right here in Windward, Alpharetta. Here’s what’s making headlines in our neighborhood this week.

Council Takes Up a $30,000 Mural for the Webb Bridge Park Tunnel
The Alpharetta City Council votes on funding a nature-themed mural for the pedestrian tunnel at Webb Bridge Park at its meeting Monday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The $30,000 budget breaks into $10,000 for surface preparation and $20,000 for the artist. Atlanta painter Sarah Emerson, who teaches at Agnes Scott College, developed the design with the city’s Natural Resources Commission, and it features native plants, animals and insects meant to highlight the ecology of the park. Prep work includes vegetation removal, pressure washing and priming, and the painting itself is expected to take two to four weeks depending on weather. It is a small line item on its own, but steady reinvestment in the trails and parks people actually use is the kind of thing that shows up in home values nearby over time.

EōS Fitness Takes the Old JOANN Space at North Point Commons
EōS Fitness has signed a lease for 38,418 square feet at 965 North Point Drive in North Point Commons, filling the space the JOANN Fabric and Crafts store left behind. It will be the chain’s fourth Atlanta-area location, with others planned for Austell, Roswell and Milton over the next couple of years. No opening date has been announced. On its own this is one retail lease. In context it is another sign that the centers along the North Point corridor are filling back in while the larger North Point Mall redevelopment moves ahead, and that steady activity is worth knowing about if you own or are shopping in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Paris Baguette Opens September 16 in the Lakeview District
Paris Baguette opens Wednesday, September 16 at 4119 Lake Street, Suite 105, next to the Eden at Lakeview apartments. Owner Layne Alkaasamani trained as a pastry chef in Switzerland and already runs a Paris Baguette in Kennesaw on Ernest Barrett Parkway. The menu runs to French pastries and Korean-inspired items, croissants, baguettes, mochi doughnuts and cakes, along with quiche, croquettes and sandwiches. Opening-week hours have not been announced yet. Lakeview sits between North Point and Avalon along GA 400 and has been filling in with apartments, townhomes and small businesses rather than a traditional shopping center, so openings like this one are a good read on that stretch of town.
