The Windward Week – September 28th 2026

Welcome to the Windward Week, your go-to source for local news, community updates, and market insights right here in Windward, Alpharetta. Here’s what’s making headlines in our neighborhood this week.

Alpharetta’s October Calendar Is Filling Up Fast
October is shaping up to be one of the busiest months of the year in downtown Alpharetta. The 21st annual Scarecrow Harvest runs October 7 through November 1, with more than 100 scarecrows lining the downtown streets and a scavenger hunt for anyone who wants to make an afternoon of it. The Wire and Wood Songwriters Festival follows on October 9 and 10, a free two day event with more than 30 performances across six stages, headlined by Corey Smith and Sister Hazel. Restaurant Week runs October 10 through 17, with more than 45 restaurants offering multicourse dinners and lunch specials. Windward is a short drive from all of it, and that is a big part of why people choose this side of town. If you have friends or family thinking about a move here, this is the month to bring them. It shows what living here actually feels like better than any listing can.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Named Top Pediatric Hospital in the Southeast
Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was just named the top ranked pediatric hospital in the Southeast and the only children’s hospital in Georgia in the national top 50, according to the newest U.S. News and World Report rankings. Nine of its specialty programs landed in the top 20 nationally, including cardiology, urology and nephrology. This is a metro Atlanta story rather than a Windward one, but it matters here. When families ask me what makes Alpharetta a strong long term choice, healthcare access is always part of the answer. Having a nationally ranked children’s hospital system within reach is not a small thing when you are raising a family, and it is one more reason North Fulton keeps drawing people who plan to stay.

Alpharetta’s Housing Market Is Tilting Toward Buyers
The latest housing numbers for Alpharetta point to a market that is shifting toward buyers. According to a North Atlanta housing update from Robin Martin and Associates covering August, closed home sales in Alpharetta fell 28 percent from a year earlier, the number of homes for sale rose 6 percent, and homes sat on the market 41 percent longer. That is a real change from the pace of the last few years. Buyers who were priced out or outbid are finding more room to negotiate. Sellers need to price it right from day one, because the stretch when almost anything sold fast regardless of price is behind us for now. If you want to know what this means for your street in Windward, I am happy to run the numbers for you.

As always, if you have questions about the Windward real estate market or are thinking about buying or selling, I’m just a call or email away.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Robbins
