What’s Happening in Loganville This Week
Welcome to the Loganville Week, your go-to source for local news, community updates, and market insights right here in Loganville. Here’s what’s making headlines in our area this week.
Georgia’s Gas Tax Break Now Runs Through November 30
Governor Brian Kemp extended the state of emergency on Saturday, which keeps Georgia’s motor fuel tax suspended through November 30. The suspended tax is 33.3 cents a gallon on gas and 37.3 cents on diesel, and the order points to high fuel prices heading into Thanksgiving travel. For anyone commuting from Loganville into Gwinnett or Atlanta, that adds up over a month of fill-ups.
New Pickleball Courts Open at the Walton County YMCA
The Walton County YMCA cut the ribbon on new pickleball courts on Wednesday, October 21, with the Walton Chamber of Commerce. The Y is at 1101 Double Springs Church Road in Monroe, a short drive east of Loganville. More courts close to home is good news for a sport that keeps growing here, and one more reason you can find plenty to do in Walton without heading into Gwinnett.
Halloween in Social Circle, and a QuikTrip Moves Ahead in Monroe
Social Circle brings back Downtown Trick or Treat on Friday, October 30, with families going business to business through downtown. Over in Monroe, plans for a QuikTrip at North Broad Street and Charlotte Rowell Boulevard moved forward after the October 20 Planning Commission meeting. If you are weighing a move out this way, Walton’s small downtowns are worth a weekend drive before you start touring homes.
